Y' need t' get 'em sponsored by an employer which means a job a local can't do, an inference of a certain status n salary and then - stay here for 7 years or get married to a Permed Resi ID card holder I think.

I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received and that consequently I will start drinking again as soon as possible.

The HKID is easy and straightforward once the working visa is sorted out.

Working visa takes some effort:
  • Sponsorship by a reputable HK registered company or representative office in good standing with IRD and IMD
  • Position needs to be one that is not easily filled by local talent (proof of previous unsuccessful recruitment attempts may be asked for) .
  • Applicant's credentials (Uni etc) need to be provided as well as resume detailing relevant experience, certificates of training, references, etc.
  • Whole process may take a few weeks or months, depending on strength of application.

Make sure all the paperwork is in good order and well presented.

Good luck!

I distrust camels, and anyone else who can go a week without a drink.

Or you can go the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme route but you need to have sufficient qualification/ experience and it takes a bit of time...
